laser engineering and optical electronics department at UOT discusses a MSc.  thesis about (the effect of some laser parameters on the welding process of PMMA)) for the student (Farah M. Shaker) the specialty of laser engineering on Tuesday 5-5-2020 at the hall of the Department, her thesis has been accepted and awarded a MSc. degree.

In this thesis, some of the basic laser parameters, spot size, wavelength, by using two wavelengths of 808 nm, 532 nm, welding speed, and force applied to the samples used PMMA.

the relation between material response and laser parameters was identified by the Takeuchi method to find out the best experiments. The best welding parameters were also identified to obtain the best welding area in terms of strength and adhesion by displaying the welding area and its strength using the Cree analysis method. Finally, a FEM numerical model was developed using a modern program, SIMUFACT WELDING PROGRAM.

 The discussion committee consisted of:

  • Prof. Mona Khudair Abbas (President).
  • Khaled Salem Shabib (member)
  • Dr. Hamad Rahim Hammoud (member)
  • Dr. Kahdim Abd Habeiter (member / supervisor)
  • Muhannad Muhammed Hussein( member / supervisor)
